About
My name is Rodrigo Muñoz Sánchez and I am Mexican, originally from Mexico City. I studied Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering at UNAM, earned a master’s degree in Earth Sciences at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate Change at UNAM, and am currently pursuing a PhD in Climate Change at the Climate Change Research Program at UNAM, where I focus on decarbonization strategies and the socioeconomic impacts of climate change. I am the CEO and, together with my brother, the founder of REDUCE Soluciones, a company specializing in sustainable solar energy and rainwater harvesting solutions. For more than four years, I have been a professor at UNAM, where I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering programs.
Hobbies
- Running: I’ve ran 2 marathons and my dream is to be able to finish an iron man.
- Mountaineering: I like climbing and mountaineering. The Izta-Popo National Park is one of my favorite places.
- Music: I have an eclectic taste, but in general I listen mostly to indie and classic rock. I play classical guitar.
- Photography: I shoot analog and digital. My favorite topics are landscapes, nature, and animals.
- Reading: I read mainly fiction novels; I enjoy Iberoamerican authors like Cortázar and Saramago. I’m interested in reading books by authors from around the world to learn about different cultures; I’ve lately read several Nobel Prize winners like Kenzaburo Oe, Herta Muller, and Orhan Pamuk.
- Languages: I’m passionate about learning new languages. I currently speak Spanish, English, French, and am learning Mandarin, German, and Portuguese.
